Everyone is doing great...we only have 3 weeks left in the challenge. We are almost to the end!! Isn't that exciting ?! I hope you guys are enjoying the challenge. I know it gets hard at times but it shows dedication that you are still turning in numbers and accounting for all your points each day/week. Great job! Keep it up and start thinking of how you are going to continue all these new "habits" in your life once the challenge is through....

Exercise change!! READ!!
This is effective immediately....this week!
I posted before about a possibly change to the challenge. I wanted to get some feed back. After hearing from several of you and really thinking this through. I feel strongly to change it. So the exercise points are now counted in 1/2 hours. So you can still workout at least 30 minutes everyday for your points or you could work out at least 3 1/2 hours a week and each 1/2 hour will count as a point. You still get to have a free point once a week which is a 1/2 hour for your free point.Yes i understand that some of you will not like this change, and if that is the case then go ahead and do it just like it was set up as. I feel like this will be a better addition to the challenge. Not because its easier ...but because i feel like it will be better on your bodies to be able to have a rest period in between your workouts if you need it.
If you have any questions or concerns please email me at toriklein@yahoo.com
I am so proud of all of you and how hard you are all working on the challenge! Great job! keep it up!

Kira----59 Don't ask
Seriously between birthday parties and my daughter's baptism party, I had so much planning going on that I didn't even keep track of my points for half the week. And relying on my brain power right now isn't such a good thing. I did enjoy some yummy Halloween candy too. Anyways I love the new habits I have formed and I am determined to have a great week!

sorry everyone that the points didnt get added last week...the week got past me before i knew it. So the points for this week and last week will be added on Wednesday. Thanks for your patience.
Possibly change....READ!!
I have had a few people suggest this and i actually don't think its a bad idea. so i want to see how you guys all agree with it....
So instead of working out 30 minutes a day. We would change it to be that you have to work out for a total of 3 1/2 hours a week.... so each 1/2 hour would still count as a point with you being able to use a FREE point for one of the half hours. i know that there are several people doing extensive workout plans right now and they need that day of "rest" in between workouts to not hurt there body and then on the days they are working out, it is a couple hours that they are working out not just a 1/2 hour. I thought that this would be a good change to the challenge but i want to get everyones opinion.
So again....instead of 30 minutes a day it would be a total of 3 1/2 hours a week ...with each half hour counting as a point just like before. With still being able to use a free point for one of the half hours.... got it?
Comment with you thoughts...

This week was so busy!! Missed some points cause I ran out of hours in the day and also missed some because I wanted treats :), what can I say it's what I love! If it weren't for the counting every dessert as another point subtracted then my points would have been a lot better, that hurt my total ALOT! But regardless I am so happy at the changes that I have made. I am saying my morning prayers everyday, haven't missed a day yet and reading my scriptures so consistently has been wonderful! Everyone have a safe and happy Halloween!

So....this was a really bad week! Had company from Switzerland. They always bring chocolate and of course we had to go out to eat at least 3 times. Late nights meant late eating. The sugar really got me and not being prepared. I just need to climb back on the horse again. This is a battle against myself now. I need to be able to just continue my healthy lifestyle even though I've had challenges this week. That is what it is all about for me; to be able to reverse the bad things right away and get back to my healthy lifestyle. I will have a really good week!

This week was a little challenging. I did the Ragnar relay race this weekend and was still able to get all my points. Took some serious effort and planning but I am excited I was able to do it!

Note to self...don't go home to Las Vegas while doing this challenge. I left all of my self control in Utah. However I did exercise everyday this week, which was huge for me since that is the part I dread the most.

Back on the horse.
Wow, did I get thrown on my butt! Having trouble getting back on the horse again. We had our friends come this week from Switzerland. Of course they brought us lots of Swiss chocolate and we are eating out this week.
I have such a problem with sugar. It is so addicting for me. Well I am not giving in...I am back in the saddle again! This has to be a change for a lifetime! I will make it happen this time!

Lura Barua.....Not Perfect
I don't have perfect points anymore but I have already improved in my healthy habits so much. I exercise every day now, from doing nothing before. I get my 2 veggies and 2 fruit in everyday, from not that often before. I only eat dessert once a week now, from everyday before. I don't eat late at night now, from eating a 4th meal at night just about every night. I am getting the Book of Mormon read for the first time. I take vitamins every day, which I didn't take any before. Also now I am able to shut down my laptop by midnight and go to sleep instead of staying up every night until 3:00am. I am slowly losing the small child I have been carrying around. These will be lifetime changes this time. Thank you so much Tori.

I have felt so good this week and am seeing great results because of the eating well and exercising so much! I am coming down with a cold right now which isn't fun but other than that I can tell that the eating better is really helping me! I had my sweet (pizookie at BJ's) last night and only ate about 4 bites and it felt like just enough. Seems like my body can't handle very much sugar anymore, it's like sugar overload. Hope everyone is enjoying this challenge! Have a great week!

If anyone has seen my willpower, could you tell her I need her back. Hoping to find her this week. Thanks!
Despite my set backs, (good thing im not super competetive) I have really enjoyed this. The scripture reading, my journaling, the whole eating healthy concept, etc. My struggle is soda. I never thought I was a soda addict until I couldnt have it. Yikes. And sometime i just want to stick my head in a bowl of peanut butter m&ms and inhale but I have done well refraining.

I scored 81 points again! I rarely find the time to eat before 8:00 so that has been my biggest challenge so far. The sugar cravings almost killed me this week, but I was able to work through them. Whoever said they would go away after a while is delusional!
Kira....84 points!
It was a great week! I missed sugar a bit but then the night I took my free night and ate sour patch kids at the movies they tasted so good but kinda ended up making me sick on my run the next morning. So sad, cause I love sweets. Anyways the not eating after 8 is for sure the hardest for me but I think my body is getting used to it! Hope everyone else is doing great!

Healthy Munchies
I was thinking the same thing...what can I munch on while watching conference. These are the things I came up with. Of course cut up fruit and veggies would be a good thing to munch on. Make a dip made with Greek yogurt. Add a little agave for the fruit or some spices for the veggies. Maybe frozen grapes, blueberries or sliced bananas. I would think you could munch on "healthy" chips and salsa. Healthy meaning...baked and low salt(limiting it to one serving). Low fat or air popped popcorn. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Tortilla chips???
I just want to find out what snacks I can be eating since it is general conference weekend and I love to sit in my pajamas and listen and snack with the family. I need to have some okay snacks ready so I don't eat anything "un approved". How do you guys all feel about tortilla chips? Leave a comment and let me know. Hope everyone is having an amazing week!!

WORD OF WISDOM
It is not just about abstaining from coffee, tea, alcohol and tobacco.
Everything which affects the body also affects the spirit. The spiritual blessings that result from obedience to the Word of Wisdom are even greater than the physical blessings.
Following are from Elder Boyd K. Packer:
“Our physical body is the instrument of our spirit. In that marvelous revelation, the Word of Wisdom, we are told how to keep our bodies free from impurities which might dull, even destroy, those delicate physical senses which have to do with spiritual communication.
“The Word of Wisdom is a key to individual revelation. It was given as ‘a principle with promise, adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints’ (D&C 89:3).
“The promise is that those who obey will receive ‘great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures’ (D&C 89:19). If we abuse our body with habit-forming substances or misuse prescription drugs, we draw curtains which close off the light of spiritual communication” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1989, p. 16; or Ensign, Nov. 1989, p. 14)
One of the greatest blessings we received when we came to earth is a physical body. Without bodies we could not experience the opportunities and lessons of life on earth. Without bodies we could not progress to godhood and become like our Father in Heaven. Because of birth defects, diseases, or accidents, our bodies may not be perfect. However, Heavenly Father expects us to take care of our bodies in the very best way we can. Because he loves us, he has told us how to care for our bodies.
A Gift from the Lord
The body is a gift from Heavenly Father. Doctrine and Covenants 88:15 states that “the spirit and the body are the soul of man.” The body and the spirit are meant to work in harmony with one another. We should, therefore, take good care of our physical bodies as well as our spirits.
Your body and your life are gifts from Heavenly Father. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said, “Your body is not your own; it is on loan from God” (“Ye Are the Temple of God,” Ensign, Sept. 2001, 18). Because the body is a gift from Heavenly Father, you have a responsibility to care for it well. Taking good care of your body doesn’t just mean not jumping off cliffs; it involves abstaining from other things that pose a risk to your health, like unhealthy eating habits, drugs, and alcohol.
BY RILEY M. LORIMER
Prophets have often counseled us to take care of our bodies. But what does “taking care of your body” really mean? And how do you do it? Consider these ideas:
Be on the Move: Exercise is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Not only does it build muscle and help maintain healthy weight, but it can also act as a stress reliever.
Eat to Live: Equally important is giving your body the right fuel. Every day we are bombarded by different messages about nutrition. Everyone wants us to think that they have the answer to quick weight loss and better health. The truth is that there isn’t a quick fix. Good nutrition is a lifestyle.
Stay Safe: One of the most important ways you can take care of your body is to keep it out of harm’s way. This principle may seem simple, but it will do a great deal in assuring you a long and healthy life. In today’s world, it is popular to take huge risks.
Your body is an incredible gift from a Father who loves you. He allowed you to come to earth and receive your body so that you could experience this mortal life. You are responsible for caring for your body and treating it in a way that honors its Creator. So get some exercise, buckle your seatbelt, and eat your vegetables!

SET YOUR GOALS SMART
Here is what the acronym SMART stands for with respect to resolutions and goals:
S= Specific: Make a specific resolution. Instead of “eating healthier”, “I will eat two apples per day.”
M= Measurable: Make your progress measurable. Example: if you want to lose 10 pounds overall, then losing one pound per week is measurable.
A= Attainable: Be realistic. Don’t hope to lose 20 pounds in two months and then keeping the pounds off. For permanent weight loss you must take it slow. The same applies to all major lifestyle changes. If you didn’t exercise at all before, don’t expect to do it suddenly one hour per day. Unrealistic expectations are the main reason that people give up on their resolutions.
R= Relevant: Is your health relevant to you? If not, why a resolution concerning a healthy lifestyle? Don’t do it, just because your friends want to improve their health. You won’t stick to health related resolutions anyway and it would be just a waste of time. Don’t make more than 2 or 3 resolutions and stick to things you are passionate about.
T= Time-bound: Set a time frame within which you will realize your resolutions. As I said before, drastic lifestyle changes are not happening in one minute.
